3 make decisions in Ohio football recruiting

3 schools also name head coaches.

Lake Catholic (Mentor) lineman Chase Hounshell has verbally committed to Notre Dame after rescinding an earlier commitment to Florida, according to the Plain Dealer. Hounshell is a 6-foot-7, 245-pound defensive linemen.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer also is reporting that Twinsburg senior Aaron Macer will play for Ohio University. He played quarterback and defensive back and was recruited as either a free safety or cornerback.

Several publications, including the Akron Beacon Journal, are reporting that Buchtel (Akron) senior defensive back Chevin Meadows will play for Kent State.

Several organizations including GopherHole.com are reporting that Central (Pickerington) senior defensive back Tamani Carter has verbally committed to play for Minnesota.

THREE SCHOOLS PICK COACHES
According to reports in the Plain Dealer, Chardon, Elyria and Firelands (Oberlin) are the latest northeast Ohio schools to pick new football coaches.



Chardon will recommend former player and assistant Mitch Hewitt as its new coach later this month. Hewitt will attempt to revive a program which has gone a combined 9-21 the last three seasons.

Elyria has selected Kevin Fell, who coached Amherst the last four seasons. Elyria went 4-6 last season and went 11-29 in four seasons under Steve Hamilton, whose contract was not renewed. Under Fell, Amherst went 8-2 last season and 28-13 overall.

Mike Passerrello has taken over at Firelands on a full-time basis after serving as interim coach during the season's final eight games. The Falcons went 1-7 under Passerrello and 2-8 overall.
