Soccer Game Preview: Aquinas vs. Melrose-Mindoro

The Aquinas Blugolds will take on the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Melrose-Mindoro took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Aquinas, who comes in off a win.

Melrose-Mindoro will be up against a hot Aquinas team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Blugolds never let Richland Center get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Saturday. Aquinas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by four goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Melrose-Mindoro unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to Altoona back in April.

Aquinas pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Melrose-Mindoro, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Aquinas took their win against Melrose-Mindoro when the teams last played back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 4-0 score. Will the Blugolds repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
