The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Clayton was: they took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-6.
Clayton can attribute much of their success to Layla Seremet, who had nine digs and one assist, and Emily Hornbeck, who had four digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Clayton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Garner made easy work of South Garner on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Garner took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-5, 25-11.
Garner's win came from a few key players Clayton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Savannah Wilkins, who had ten digs and one assist. Anna Claire Jinnette also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.
Garner's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Clayton, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
