Softball Game Preview: Waltonville Spartans vs. Okawville Rockets

The Waltonville Spartans will challenge the Okawville Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Waltonville sitting on nine straight wins and Okawville on three.

Waltonville's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Nashville hitters got past them. The Spartans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets on Saturday, sneaking past 12-11.

Meanwhile, Okawville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against Wesclin by a score of 3-0.

The result came thanks to Schae Juenger's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Okawville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jilien Harre, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Waltonville's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Okawville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Waltonville took their win against Okawville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
