Person hasn't had much luck against Williams recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rockets will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Person has given up an average of 30.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Person might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 42-18 to Southeast Alamance, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tae Winstead, who picked up 75 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Pope, who rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, Williams came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their game with ease, bagging a 49-21 win over the Warriors. With the Bulldogs ahead 28-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Person better keep an eye on Amarion Richmond. He was instrumental in Williams' win, rushing for 101 yards and four scores. Richmond's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Kyrian Fuller, who threw for 276 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes.
Person now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Williams, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Person has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 174.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Williams struggles in that department as they've been averaging 232.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Person took a serious blow against Williams when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 54-16. Will the Rockets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
