Preview: Carthage Tigers vs. Smith-Cotton Tigers
The Carthage Tigers will be playing at home against the Smith-Cotton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Carthage strolled past Willard with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. The victory was just what Carthage needed coming off of a 49-21 loss in their prior matchup.
Smith-Cotton can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-6 victory over Hogan Prep Charter at home. The win was just what Smith-Cotton needed coming off of a 63-0 loss in their prior matchup.
Mylan Hawkins was on fire: he rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Dax Wiskur made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Carthage is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Smith-Cotton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.
Everything went Carthage's way against Smith-Cotton when the teams last played back in October of 2014 as Carthage made off with a 28-6 victory. Will Carthage repeat their success, or does Smith-Cotton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
