Football Recap: Tylertown Takes a Loss

If Tylertown was riding high fresh off their 42-7 takedown of St. Patrick last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chiefs took a 33-14 bruising from the Presbyterian Christian Bobcats on Friday.

Despite the loss, Tylertown still got an impressive performance from Keonnis Davis, who threw for 267 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 55 yards and one TD. A healthy portion of Davis' aerial production (112 yards to be exact) went to Landon Thompson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

While Tylertown came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Presbyterian Christian: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 47.6%. The team can thank Jordan Williams for the heroic effort on defense: he. Tylertown wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

Presbyterian Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jet Henderson, who picked up 157 receiving yards and one score. Henderson's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Smith Stringer, who threw for 232 yards and one touchdown while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.

Tylertown's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Presbyterian Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Tylertown and Presbyterian Christian are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Chiefs will face off against Hazlehurst at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Presbyterian Christian, they will take on Jefferson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
