Softball Recap: Lemon Bay Victorious

Lemon Bay's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Port Charlotte Pirates by a score of 6-3. The Manta Rays haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Reagan Altieri spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taylor Jones and Mattie Couture did most of the damage at the plate: Jones scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Couture scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Couture a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Lemon Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Charlotte only managed six hits.

Lemon Bay's record now sits at 3-5. As for Port Charlotte, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Lemon Bay will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against DeSoto County at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Port Charlotte, they will take on Estero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Estero is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
