Baseball Recap: Madison Plains' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Madison Plains put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Cedarville Indians with a sharp 14-4 win. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

Gavin Rhoads was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Rhoads was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paul Madden, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Brayden Evans was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Madison Plains kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Madison Plains' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Cedarville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Indians beat Madison Plains by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday.
