Basketball Game Preview: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Satellite Scorpions

Cocoa Beach hasn't had much luck against Satellite recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cocoa Beach Minutemen will look to defend their home court against the Satellite Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cocoa Beach will head into Tuesday's match out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Bayside and fell 65-36. While losing is never fun, the Minutemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 610th, while the Bears are ranked 297th).

Meanwhile, Satellite played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Bayside, falling 62-42.

Cocoa Beach's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Satellite, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Cocoa Beach couldn't quite finish off Satellite in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 58-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Satellite's K'Dnce Cataldo, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 25 points. Now that Cocoa Beach knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
