Baseball Game Preview: West Valley Mustangs vs. Elsinore Tigers

For the second straight game, West Valley will face off against Elsinore. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Tigers at 3:15 p.m.

West Valley is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Elsinore just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered since March 10th.

For Elsinore's part, they got a great performance from Brayden Stankus as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Andrew Jimenez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jovan Huerta, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Elsinore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Elsinore's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for West Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
