Soccer Game Preview: Emerson vs. Liberty

The Emerson Mavericks will take on the Liberty Redhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Emerson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season.

Emerson is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Centennial just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Titans are ranked 16th).

Paxton Ancheta and Amir Tashmukhamedov scored both of Emerson's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Liberty won against Independence on Tuesday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Friday. Liberty came out on top in a nail-biter against Memorial, sneaking past 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redhawks.

Emerson's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-2. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 9-7-2.
