Soccer Game Preview: Clayton vs. St. Francis Borgia

The Clayton Greyhounds will take on the St. Francis Borgia Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Clayton took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand St. James an 8-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what Clayton needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, St. Francis Borgia entered their tilt with Affton on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Cougars. Considering St. Francis Borgia have won eight games by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Clayton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for St. Francis Borgia, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.

Clayton took their victory against St. Francis Borgia in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
