Basketball Recap: Johnson County Comes Up Short

Johnson County lost against Dublin back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Johnson County Trojans were beaten by the Dublin Fighting Irish 86-59. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 107th).

Johnson County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dallas Taylor, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds, and Tayshawn Norris, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daezon Devero, who posted six points.

Dublin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tristian Bell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. Matravious Linder was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Johnson County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Dublin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Johnson County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-35 victory against Montgomery County on the 28th. As for Dublin, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Academy for Classical Education at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. One thing working in Dublin's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.
