Football Game Preview: St. Joseph Lancers vs. Palmyra-Eagle Panthers

The St. Joseph Lancers will welcome the Palmyra-Eagle Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in St. Joseph's favor as the squad sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Palmyra-Eagle has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

St. Joseph is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat St. Francis 56-6. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Mariners are ranked 299th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Zach Rizzo had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 254 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Tyler Buttera also helped with two scores in total.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something St. Joseph proved: they limited St. Francis to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Berkley Kuiper for the heroic effort on defense: he. St. Joseph didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 14.4.

Special teams played a big role in the game for St. Joseph, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Christopher Kenesie, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Palmyra-Eagle's offense. They had to suffer through a 27-0 loss at the hands of Cambria-Friesland.

St. Joseph's record is now 11-0. As for Palmyra-Eagle, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
