Softball Preview: Delta Eagles vs. Muncie Central Bearcats
Delta is 7-0 against Muncie Central since May of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Delta Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Muncie Central Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. Delta is no doubt hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Delta narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Monroe Central 6-5.
Haley Loser made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. Loser was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Delta let Hannah Carter and Fancy Robbins loose on the outfield. Carter went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double, while Robbins scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, sadly, Muncie Central is still looking for their first win of the season after seven games. They fell victim to a tough 23-0 loss at the hands of Union City on Wednesday.
Delta's victory bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Muncie Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Everything went Delta's way against Muncie Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 as Delta made off with a 27-1 win. Does Delta have another victory up their sleeve, or will Muncie Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
