Mellen came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Hurley Northstars 58-41. This was a revenge game for the Granite Diggers: when they faced off against the Northstars back in January, they had to take a 60-58 loss.

Mellen pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hurley, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.

Mellen and Hurley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Mellen will face off against Lac Courte Oreilles at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday up 261 places (211 vs. 472). Similarly, Hurley (ranked 210th) will meet Mercer (ranked 497th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
