Dunbar extends home losing streak to four

This season hasn't been kind to the Dunbar Tigers, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 71-33 loss at the hands of LaBelle. While losing is never fun, Dunbar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 605th, while LaBelle is ranked 296th).

Despite the loss, Dunbar saw an underclassman step up: Carmen Johnson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Johnson scored a full 48.5% of Dunbar's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tatiana Jean-simon was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.

Marissa Burchard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for LaBelle, shooting 6-for-9 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 36 points and 13 steals. The match was Burchard's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aariah Johnson, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and 11 steals.

Dunbar bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for LaBelle, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Dunbar won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ida Baker at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.
