Wins for Carroll opponents at Southlake's Dragon Stadium have been rare.
Carroll came into Friday's marquee match-up against 2012 Class 5A Division I state champion Allen with a 58-2 record at home since the stadium opened in 2001.
All of which makes Allen's 49-27 season-opening victory all the more impressive.
Allen quarterback Kyler Murray, son of former Texas A&M quarterback Kevin Murray, picked up where he left off in his sophomore season, accounting for five touchdowns.
The Eagles of Tom Westerberg debut in the top spot of MaxPreps Texas Top 25 rankings.
Right behind Allen at No. 2 is Katy, last season's top-ranked team with a 16-0 run to the Class 5A Division II state title. Gary Joseph's Tigers held Klein without a touchdown in a 41-3 opening-week drubbing.
