Basketball Recap: Boyertown Takes a Loss

Boyertown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 60-46 to the Antietam Mountaineers. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mountaineers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Boyertown still got an impressive performance from Trey Kern, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The match was Kern's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braiden Luft, who posted ten points.

Antietam got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was AJ Scheifley out in front who went 7 of 16 on his way to 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Scheifley has scored at least a third of Antietam's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Coste, who went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Boyertown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Antietam, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Boyertown and Daniel Boone will round out the year against one another at at 6:45 p.m. on December 30th. As for Antietam, they will square off against Garden Spot at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
