Baseball Recap: Rio Grande Victorious

While Rio Grande's victory against Atrisco Heritage Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ravens came out on top against the Jaguars on Friday by a score of 4-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Ravens have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jaguars, too.

Sebastian Chavez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Salinas, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

The win got Rio Grande back to even at 9-9. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Coming up, Rio Grande will square off against St. Pius X at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Sartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Ravens surely won't give up without a fight. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they will take on Del Norte at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Jaguars are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
