Basketball Recap: Maxwell Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Maxwell couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 78-56 to the Melrose Buffaloes on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Buffaloes: they've now lost seven in a row.

Maxwell's defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Melrose, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.

Maxwell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Melrose, they and Fort Sumner/House will face off at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. Melrose knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Fort Sumner/House likes a good challenge.
