Baseball Game Preview: Marquette Mustangs vs. Lebanon Yellowjackets

Marquette has gone a perfect 3-0 against Lebanon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Marquette 4.1, Lebanon 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Marquette's last matchup with Fort Zumwalt West could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Saturday. The Mustangs came up short against the Jaguars, falling 7-1. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Lebanon had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bluejays, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted against the Bluejays since March 31, 2015.

Lebanon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Marquette, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-13.

Marquette beat Lebanon 14-11 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
