Baseball Game Preview: Salesian Eagles vs. Iona Prep Gaels

Salesian hasn't had much luck against Iona Prep recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Gaels at 4:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, Salesian came up short against Fordham Prep and fell 7-2.

Meanwhile, Iona Prep came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Gaels, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brandon Stabile looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Tyler Wels was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nick Delfico was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Iona Prep's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Salesian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
