Volleyball Game Preview: Chaparral Firebirds vs. Horizon Huskies

Chaparral hasn't had much luck against Horizon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Firebirds will head out to face off against the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Chaparral will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Monday, Chaparral got the win against Arizona College Prep by a conclusive 3-0.

Chaparral never let Arizona College Prep on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 28-26.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Horizon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Sunday. Everything went their way against Mountain Pointe last Monday as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Pride: they've now won eight in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-13, 25-21.

Horizon found their leader in freshman Tessa Caldwell, who had nine digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Caldwell. Gabi Gilbert also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 28-4. As for Horizon, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.

Chaparral beat Horizon 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
