Volleyball Recap: Madelynn Hays Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Essex

Westmoreland won the last time they faced Essex and things went their way on Thursday too. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Westmoreland was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least 25 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 23-25, 25-0, 25-0.

Westmoreland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madelynn Hays, who had eight digs and five aces. That's the most aces Hays has posted since back in September.

Hays wasn't the only good servers: Westmoreland was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Westmoreland's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Essex, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Westmoreland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Colonial Beach on the 14th. As for Essex, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Rappahannock on the 14th.
