Basketball Game Preview: Buckeye Valley Barons vs. Bishop Watterson Eagles

The Buckeye Valley Barons just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Bishop Watterson Eagles at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. Buckeye Valley is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Buckeye Valley is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Grandview Heights: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Barons blew the Bobcats out of the water with a 53-15 final score. That 38 point margin sets a new team best for the Barons this season.

Buckeye Valley relied on the efforts of Tegan McMillen, who posted 15 points and five steals, and Avelina Wagner, who shot 46% from the field en route to 13 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Wagner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 20 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Mj Cress, who had seven points and three steals.

Buckeye Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Bishop Watterson didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Worthington Kilbourne last Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 38-33 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

The victory got Bishop Watterson back to even at 1-1. As for Buckeye Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
