Volleyball Recap: Gallup Takes a Loss

Gallup was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Grants Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Tuesday.

Grants found their leader in freshman Mariah Melonas, who had 21 digs and two assists. Melonas is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Gallup now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Grants, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Coming up, Gallup will head out to take on Farmington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scorpions will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bengals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grants, they have already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Espanola Valley on the 13th.
