Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Marion

Marion had won three straight games and Jaeda Davis did her part to make it four on Saturday. The Marion Swamp Foxes strolled past the Hartsville Red Foxes with points to spare, taking the game 52-38 thanks in part to Davis, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 23 points and three steals. The matchup was her seventh in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kristin Shaw, who posted a point and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave her a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Hartsville still got an impressive performance from Jaz Reyes, who earned 18 points. That was a full 47.4% of Hartsville's points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Mitchell, who had seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Marion's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. As for Hartsville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Atlantic Collegiate Academy at 6:15 p.m. on January 28th. Hartsville has already played their next contest (against South Florence), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
