Basketball Game Preview: True North Classical Academy Titans vs. Somerset Academy Panthers

The True North Classical Academy Titans will venture away from home to square off against the Somerset Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. True North Classical Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.

True North Classical Academy is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against IMG Academy Black on Saturday. True North Classical Academy rang in the new year with a 71-58 victory over IMG Academy Black. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Ascenders are ranked 646th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

True North Classical Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Boosie Swan, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and six assists, and Quincy Douby Jr, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to six steals and five assists. With that strong performance, Swan is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Rodriguez, who posted 12 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: True North Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Somerset Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 68-54 to Miramar.

True North Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Somerset Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

True North Classical Academy strolled past Somerset Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 70-55. Will True North Classical Academy repeat their success, or does Somerset Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
