Mount Hamilton recap November 19, 2013
Willow Glen's Hakeem Mays rumbled for the longest rushing play in Mount Hamilton this season in his game against Santa Teresa last week. Mays scampered for 84 yards on the play and finished with 175 on the day as his team defeated the Saints.
Pioneer was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. Earlier in the week, the Mustangs triumphed over Piedmont Hills 34-33.
Anthony McBride was a passing and rushing force as the Pirates fell to Pioneer. He completed 20 passes for 312 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 104 yards. McBride's key target this week was Aaron Tillak, who caught 4 passes for 102 yards.
Norel Booker threw for 150 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Tillak was the best wideout in the league this week as Piedmont Hills lost to Eric Perry's team. Tillak tallied 4 receptions for 102 yards. Isaiah Arnold-Stewart helped Piedmont Hills' passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 85 yards.
Leading Mount Hamilton in both passing and receiving yards, Matthew Kiesle's team's McBride and Joseph Romero have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback McBride has thrown for 2,028 yards this season, while Romero has 42 catches for 740 yards. Willow Glen's Mays leads the league in rushing yards with 1,703.
Oscar Caballero's team scaled the state rankings by moving to 563 from 596 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Rams were able to move up by topping Santa Teresa 43-7.
