Baseball Recap: Caliche Victorious

Caliche's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Wiley Panthers by a score of 12-8. Considering the Buffaloes' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Blaine Farquhar and Colton Cochran did most of the damage at the plate: Farquhar went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Cochran went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Caliche is 2-1 when Farquhar posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Caysen Kracht also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Caliche's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Wiley, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5-1.

Looking ahead, Caliche will be playing in front of their home fans against Briggsdale at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wiley, they will head out on the road to face off against Flatirons Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bison's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
