Baseball Recap: Minerva Has No Trouble Against Beaver Local

While Minerva put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Beaver Local. The Lions were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Beavers. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now won five in a row.

Braydon Wood was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Minerva is undefeated when Wood posts two or more runs, but 4-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jason Sivy and Kaden Kandel did most of the damage at the plate: Sivy went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Kandel went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Sivy has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Frazier, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Minerva hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.

Minerva's record now sits at 9-14. As for Beaver Local, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16-1.

As of now, neither Minerva nor the Beavers have any future games scheduled.
