Hunter-Kinard-Tyler triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Tilayzia Youmans

Recap: Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 59-54 victory over Ridge Spring-Monetta. Winning may never get old, but Hunter-Kinard-Tyler sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

It was another big night for Tilayzia Youmans, who dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 13 rebounds, and ten steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Aysiah Bonaparte was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven steals.

Ridge Spring-Monetta's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylah Leaphart, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Leaphart hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Hendley, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Ridge Spring-Monetta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. This was only their 14th loss (out of 22 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler will be playing in front of their home fans against Christ Church Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hunter-Kinard-Tyler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday. Ridge Spring-Monetta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
