Softball Recap: Wardlaw Academy Has No Trouble Against Ridge Spring-Monetta

Wardlaw Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ridge Spring-Monetta, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots blew past the Trojans 15-8 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brianna McNeill ( JR) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off only one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, Taylor Hill (JR) was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kya McCormick ( SR), who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Wardlaw Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Wardlaw Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they moved to 4-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Wardlaw Academy is taking a road trip to take on King Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they will take on Calhoun County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
