Volleyball Recap: Irvine Takes a Loss

Irvine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Portola Bulldogs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 30, 2023, but that streak is no more.

While Irvine ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-19.

Irvine's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Portola, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Irvine will square off against rival Laguna Beach at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Portola is set to face off against their familiar foe Sage Hill at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
