Softball Game Preview: Eastern Wayne Warriors vs. Beddingfield Bruins

The Eastern Wayne Warriors will take on the Beddingfield Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastern Wayne has three straight wins, Beddingfield has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Eastern Wayne got the win against Spring Creek by a conclusive 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Mallory Reed made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Lee, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Arianna Harvey, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Eastern Wayne lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Beddingfield fell victim to North Johnston and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-0.

Eastern Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Beddingfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Eastern Wayne took their win against Beddingfield in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
