Basketball Recap: North Vermillion Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

If Covington wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played North Vermillion, they should've done a better job of containing Nora Thomann. The North Vermillion Falcons took down the Covington Trojans 60-43 on Thursday thanks in part to Thomann, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Dunham, who posted nine points. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Preslei Lazzell, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Lazzell a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Peyton Brown, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

North Vermillion has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Covington, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

North Vermillion didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-29 loss against North Central on the 25th. Covington has also already played their next match, a 45-37 defeat against North Newton on the 25th.
