Cathedral dropped their record down to 19-8-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Deming Wildcats by a score of 10-9. The Fighting Irish were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

Irvin Duarte was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Alex Medrano was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

As for Deming, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 5th.

On Deming's side, Jose Duran was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Duran a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Mosier, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Cathedral will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nolan Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Deming, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-1 victory against Chaparral on the 15th.
