Baseball Recap: Conrad Academy Eagles vs. Ocoee Knights
Conrad Academy had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 15-1 walloping at the hands of the Ocoee Knights on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Conrad Academy of the 6-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Ocoee's part, Logan Gurney looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gurney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angel Martinez, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Zwally, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Ocoee's victory bumped their record up to 12-13.
Conrad Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ocoee, they will head out on the road to square off against East Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Ocoee is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
