Baseball Recap: Montbello's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Silver Creek, Montbello was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Wheat Ridge Farmers.

Nicolas Torres was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Torres wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Rodriguez snagged this season. Ivan Gonzalez was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Montbello's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5. As for Wheat Ridge, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Montbello has already played their next contest, a 6-0 victory against Skyview on the 31st. As for Wheat Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 11-6 defeat against Aurora Central on the 27th.
