Softball Recap: Avon Gets the Win

Avon won the last time they faced Westfield and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Orioles walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Shamrocks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Orioles.

Brinley Pope looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olivia Yeary was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Kayla Pickering was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Avon's record now sits at 8-16. As for Westfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season.

Avon will take on West Washington in a tournament on Saturday. As for Westfield, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against McCutcheon at 6:00 p.m.
