Basketball Recap: GV Christian Takes a Loss

GV Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Needles Mustangs and fell 67-17. While losing is never fun, the Guardians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 80th in Nevada, while the Mustangs are ranked 17th in California).

GV Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Samantha Charron, who posted 11 points and five boards, and Alyssa Bound, who earned no points. That was a full 64.7% of GV Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Gianna Collier was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds for Needles. Collier's afternoon made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isabella Harvey, who put up eight points and three steals.

GV Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Needles, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

GV Christian has already played their next contest, a 57-20 loss against Lincoln County on the 31st. As for Needles, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 0-0 win against Awaken Christian on the 31st.
