Basketball Recap: Phoenix Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Phoenix Christian lost to Salome last Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Phoenix Christian Cougars came out on top against the Salome Frogs by a score of 54-43. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Despite the defeat, Salome had strong showings from Grecia Leon, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 21 points and six rebounds, and Brianna Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Thomas has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Myranda Cruz, who posted five points and three steals.

Phoenix Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Salome, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Phoenix Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against San Tan Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Phoenix Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Salome, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-33 loss against Estrella Foothills on the 4th.
