Football Recap: Westside Piles Up the Points Against Southside + How To Watch

Westside got themselves on the board against Southside on Friday, but Southside never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 55-0. The Rams' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Westside found their leader in freshman Bear Woods, who threw for 217 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Those four passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Woods. Westside also got a significant boost from Keylan Powell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.

Westside's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Christian Webb-Scott, Kwon Simpkins, and Mondrekius Norris, who each picked up one sack apiece. Westside received some extra help from Webb-Scott, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Westside, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jae White, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Westside and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points over those games. As for Southside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will host Emerald at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.83 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Southside, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Laurens at 7:30 p.m.
