Softball Game Preview: Chino Hills Huskies vs. Norco Cougars

The Chino Hills Huskies will take on the Norco Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Chino Hills will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Chino Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Huntington Beach a 4-0 shutout.

Not much got past Nadia Juarez, who gave up just five hits to keep Huntington Beach off the board. Juarez has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kyler Del Duca and Brett Lambrecht did most of the damage at the plate: Del Duca went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Lambrecht went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Leilani Allen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Norco faced Oaks Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cougars blew past the Lions 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Norco pushed their record up to 26-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Chino Hills, their win bumped their record up to 21-8.

Chino Hills came out on top in a nail-biter against Norco in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
