League recap: Belzer races to league-leading run for Marceline

Lewis & Clark recap September 10, 2013

Blake Belzer of Marceline ran for the longest rushing play in Lewis & Clark this season against Schuyler County last week. Belzer ran for 60 yards on the play and finished with 85 on the day as his team beat the Rams.

Marceline took down Schuyler County 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Blake Linebaugh threw for 105 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 82 yards during the win.

Paris's dynamic duo of Kyle Popkes and Brendon Hancock proved tough for Hallsville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Popkes threw for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns and Hancock had 131 yards receiving. Slater Stone helped Paris' passing attack out by catching 9 balls for 92 yards.

The Coyotes' dynamic duo of Popkes and Hancock proved to be unstoppable against the Indians, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Popkes put up the best numbers in passing as Paris lost to Hallsville.

Hancock was the best receiver in the league this week as Gary Crusha's team lost to Devin Johnson's team.

Zane Jacoby provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Westran bested Carrollton. He completed 8 passes for 97 yards and also ran for 195 yards. Jacoby's favorite target this week was Richard Courtney, who caught 4 passes for 43 yards.

Jacoby was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Jake Ingebritson added to the ground attack by rushing for 79 yards.

He was 27-47 with 2 interceptions.

Leading Lewis & Clark in both passing and receiving yards, the Coyotes' Popkes and Stone have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Popkes has thrown for 482 yards this season, while Stone has 17 catches for 231 yards. The Hornets' Jacoby leads the league in rushing yards with 267.

Paul Thomas' team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,937 from 8,538. The improvement was the result of 50-0 victory over the Rams last week.
