Recap: Arickaree Bison vs. Flagler Panthers
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Arickaree Bison ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 47-43 W over Flagler. The victory was nothing new for Arickaree as they're now sitting on three straight.
Arickaree was led to victory by JANIYA SMITH and RAEYA SCHROCK. SMITH scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while SCHROCK scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. SMITH also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was LILLY MONAT, who scored three points along with three steals.
Flagler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexi Witt, who scored eight points along with five steals and two blocks. Jaylie Stone was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Arickaree has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Flagler, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Arickaree on the road again on Friday and play against Bethune at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Bethune focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Flagler, they will be playing at home against Byers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Byers will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Flagler is ranked 104th).
