Football Recap: Las Cruces Bulldawgs vs. Alamogordo Tigers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Las Cruces). They breezed by the Alamogordo Tigers at home to the tune of 59-14 on Thursday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-7.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Las Cruces to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel Amaro, who rushed for 55 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Amaro is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Another rusher making a difference was Jaxon Alba, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Hergenreder, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown. Those 141 rushing yards gave Hergenreder a new career-high. Alamogordo also got a significant boost from Nathanael Best, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 121 yards.
The win was the fourth in a row for Las Cruces, bringing their record for this year to 6-2. As for Alamogordo, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Las Cruces' homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Carlsbad at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carlsbad is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.2 points per game this season. As for Alamogordo, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clovis at 7:00 p.m. on November 1st.
