Basketball Recap: Wamego Takes a Loss

If Wamego was feeling good fresh off their 83-42 takedown of Chapman last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wamego Red Raiders might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Abilene Cowboys an easy 64-41 win. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now lost five in a row.

Wamego now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Abilene, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wamego will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hesston at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Hesston will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Wamego surely won't give up without a fight. Abilene will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Halstead at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
